Welcome to Tesshin Calgary!

We are excited to bring a new kendo dojo to Calgary! Whether you are a beginner or an experienced kendo practitioner, our dojo offers a welcoming environment for all skill levels. Tesshin Calgary is the 2nd dojo to open within the Tesshin family.

Our instructor is a Renshi 7th Dan (錬士七段) and has served as the general manager of the Canadian national team. He provides guidance from the basics, so even complete beginners can join with confidence. Currently, our members range from children to advanced practitioners, all training together.

Summer program: 4-day kendo intro

Our 4-day Kendo intro sessions are designed for complete beginners. You’ll learn basic footwork, strikes, dojo etiquette, and kendo Japanese/日本語 in a supportive environment.

No equipment is required, and all ages welcome!

Wednesday sessions - 6:00pm to 7:00pm
Saturday sessions - 7:30pm to 8:30pm

Canadian Kendo Federation (CKF)

We are registered with the Canadian Kendo Federation (CKF). This means our dojo is authorized to offer recognized training and certification opportunities under the CKF.

No prior experience? No problem! Our dojo welcomes beginners and provides guidance to help you build confidence and skills.
